Children's Offertory
Dear Parish Family, As your new Pastor, one of my greatest joys over these past few months has been watching the vibrant life and energy in our pews. I have quickly realized that our young parishioners aren't just the future of this parish - they are its present. That is why I want to take a moment to celebrate a beautiful tradition you already have in place here: our Children's Collection.
Whenever I look at our sanctuary, I am reminded of the incredible impact of this collection. We all know that the beautiful upgrade from carpet to tile was funded entirely by the monies brought forward by our young parishioners. Every time our children looks at that floor, they see a physical reminder that they helped build up God's house.
When our children bring their gifts forward during the Liturgy of the Eucharist, they aren't just participating in a routine. They are stepping into a profound moment of worship. As adults, we use the offertory to offer our lives and sacrifices back to God. By continuing this special collection, I want to ensure our children know they have a deliberate, honored place at the altar right alongside us. They are not just passive observers; they are active, vital members of our parish family.
This practice teaches our young parishioners the true meaning of stewardship. When they hold an offering in their hands, they learn that everything we have is a gift from God. Bringing it forward teaches them that worship means offering a piece of ourselves back to Him in gratitude.
Our tile sanctuary is proof of what happens when small gifts combine to do great things. It gives our children a sense of mature ownership over their faith and fills them with a deep, lifelong joy for giving. Thank you for fostering this spirit of generosity in your homes, and I look forward to watching our children continue to bless our community.
